In 2015 BAU hosted “Ephemera” a workshop created and led by London-based visiting professor Ana Serrano that studied the genesis of Architectural devices of transient nature with an interdisciplinary team formed by a small number of local specialists and architectural students. Through seminars, design sessions and a study trip, they worked in groups on ritual and site analysis in the context of the Arab Culture within the theoretical framework set up by French ethnographer Arnold van Gennep. Three installations were designed as a result of a 3 month period and submitted to a public vote. For Beirut Design Week 2016 they will exhibit a site-specific installation in the basement of KED.
