GROWING LIMITATIONS
BY QUEI STUDIO /BERLIN
For the first time in Beirut Design Week, the curatorial Studio Quei from Berlin unveiled their collection under the theme ‘Limited Sustainability’.

As we dream of endless possibilities and set attributes for “good” or “bad”, we sometimes forget that sustainable design is not inherently democratic. By rethinking overproduction and focusing on locally sourced and produced products, we tend to forget that the rise in price is not just a little obstacle we take for a cleaner conscious, but also excludes most people. Is this a revolution, which is only fought by the ones who can afford it? Can we really make a difference through consuming? Is sustainability a luxury? Limited Sustainability explores the influence of limits to comprehension. It challenges limits as initiator for thought, critique and understanding instead of a stale stagnation.
